For a while now my boyfriend has been coming in from work completely exhausted. His work schedule is simply getting too much, too many hours and not enough leisure time. He is constantly irritable and tired, not the ideal situation for our relationship. The problem is I don’t see things changing in the future.
Unfortunately many couples like us are experiencing hectic working lifestyles. There just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day, especially precious time for each other. This can be detrimental to relationships and sometimes even result in couples going their separate ways.
I love my boyfriend too much for this to happen to us. With his birthday coming up soon I thought about booking a weekend away to recharge his batteries and our relationship too. It seemed the best thing to do under the circumstances as I felt we were simply drifting apart due to the pressures of work.
We both love the outdoors and visiting the countryside. When we get any spare time together, off we go in the car to experience a change in scenery. There is nothing quite like having a wonderful lunch and a refreshing drink in a quaint country village pub. We both enjoy hiking in the hills, having picnics and listening to the sounds of nature.
The Lake District has always appealed to me, mainly because of happy school trips there. I had never experienced anything quite like it before with its post-card villages, enormous lakes, inviting mountains and unbelievable scenery. Now and then I take out the photographs to reminisce, such happy memories. This helped me to make my mind up. I decided to reserve a weekend away for my boyfriend, as a special surprise birthday present.
Websites seemed the obvious place to look, such a superb choice of hotels. I was searching for a hotel with a warm atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a place just to chill out. It had to suit us both and be ideally situated so we could venture out into the wonderful area of the Lake District. I quickly found a hotel with all the amenities and facilities we were after.
My boyfriend was delighted when he found about my little surprise. We both couldn’t wait to jump into the car and drive to our hotel in the Lakes. What a fantastic weekend we had. The hotel itself was everything we had anticipated, relaxing, friendly and a place to unwind. The weather remained hot and sunny, absolutely ideal for exploring the countryside around us. It seemed such a long time since we had spent a full weekend together, we had great fun and many laughs.
For any couples out there that are having a hard time due to overloaded work commitments, then take a short hotel break in the glorious Lake District, I can honestly recommend it.
