Anyone who has had to plan their wedding before (well usually the bride to be) will truly understand how stressful this can be. The whole proposal is all very romantic but nobody tells you that the list and organisation for a wedding is horrendous and involves a number of sleepless nights. Your wedding is meant to be the biggest day of your life and apart from your mortgage the most expensive! My partner and I had quickly decided where we wanted our reception to be held. My husband’s parents live on the most wonderful grounds and we both had our hearts set on here. We knew we could glam up a marquee and get a hog roast for all our hungry guests, but there was one slight problem where was everyone going to go to the toilet?? It was quickly suggested to us that we hired portable toilets. Portable toilets??!! The idea simply repulsed me and I was on the verge of changing my mind about where I wanted my reception.
My fairy godmother (my best friend Vanessa) was quick to tell me to stop panicking and told me that portable toilets now came in posh versions. I had images of my days at Glastonbury and these had scarred me for life. I didn’t want my guests having to squat over the toilets in fear of what was beneath them. Plus we had invited lots of our older relatives where this could never have been an option!
I was shown a website and the idea of having portable loos began to get brighter and more possible. I was pleasantly surprised by the range of available toilets and realised my wedding did not have to be the disaster I was anticipating. The options I faced were anything from the type of fittings I wanted to the type of panelling and flooring. I rang the company and made sure the pictures on the website were actually a true picture to the loos I would be getting on my wedding day. I have to hand it to the guy – he was exceptionally patient with my numerous and repeated questions. There are probably only so many questions you can ask about portable toilets and I think I managed most of them.
To put my mind at rest I requested to see these toilets and I there were really a far cry from what I had experienced at Glastonbury. The insides were impeccable and I had chosen some units so that there would be mirrors and proper sinks for all the guests. After this minor hiccup everything really started to come into place.
On the day of my wedding my Husband volunteered to go and supervise the putting up of the portable toilets. He was impressed with how quick they were and they gave him advice on the efficient running too. The whole day was a super success and I have lost count on how many comments I got about the toilets. It got to the point that they appeared to be the main attraction rather than me, the bride!!
