My wife and I decided that we should redecorate our home. A new addition to the family meant that a third bedroom which had been used for storage space was now required for our baby’s room. Really to be honest the entire house needed completely re-decorating inside and out, relatively a task.

With this in mind I made a decision to take two weeks holiday in early spring to begin the work myself. I assessed each room and couldn’t believe the amount of clutter, items which we simply didn’t need, or things that were no longer any use, had accumulated over the years. The garage particularly had stuff that I had hoarded since we first moved in, things that definitely needed to be thrown out.

Before beginning, our number one priority was to order a skip. In fact there was so much to throw away that we decided to order two skips. We found a company that provides skips for domestic and commercial clearances via the world wide web. Apart from being environmentally friendly, they also recycle as much of the waste as possible, particularly cardboard and plastic. Having such a young family, we both agree with environmental issues, so this sounded ideal for us.

I e-mailed the company, told them of our needs and exactly what we needed to get rid of. Their skips come in different sizes but since we have a large driveway, ordering two wouldn’t be a problem.

Apparently if you don’t have a drive on your premises, then a skip must be put onto the public highway. A permit from the Local Council is required which is not a problem as the skip company we chose can provide this for you. They are registered with the Local Authorities and a permit can be issued in less than a day.

I was advised to only put non-hazardous domestic waste into the skips. Any hazardous products or materials I needed to get rid of, they could arrange a special collection and dispose of it for me. Other domestic items such as fridge freezers, TVs, or unwanted electrical appliances can be separately collected and disposed of by their professional staff. They also provide additional services to assist, load and move waste safely and quickly. They can even supply “terram matting” to protect your driveway from any spillages or damage to the concrete.

The skips promptly arrived on the first day of my two weeks holiday off work, a good start. The older kids were at school which meant my wife could also help with receiving rid of the rubbish and household waste. Only safe items were put inside the skips to ease any hazardous risks, and other discarded materials left to one side to be picked up later.

My wife and I would thoroughly recommend this superb skip hire company which can be found via the internet. The staff are professional, friendly and quite helpful. In no time at all our house was cleared of clutter and the re-decorating work soon got under way.
