Many people who engage in teeth grinding do it mainly in their sleep. These are people who tend to be impatient, easily angered and who feel frustrated if things don't go exactly as they want. More often than not, the tautness in the jaw actually takes place because they are trying to repress angry feelings. So if you find yourself grinding your teeth whenever you are stuck in traffic or sitting in a meeting that annoys you, you may fall into this category. Many dental and gum problems are caused by teeth grinding and it does weaken your teeth.
