Pertinent information always needs a place to be stored, which is what Western Digital internal hard drives offer. This additional storage is great for both office and home where desktop computers require more storage space. Notebook computers also have this same issue. Outstanding performance and the reliability of these drives makes them excellent for write-intensive applications and servers.
Desktop Computers- The WD Caviar Green, WD Caviar Blue, and the WD Caviar Black are three extremely reliable internal drives that Western Digital offers. These are to be used in desktop computers and all three are extremely quiet when running. The ability to be keep cool when running is an excellent feature as well.
Blue and Black both offer hard drive protection, by way of Data Lifeguard and ShockGuard. Data Lifeguard has an environmental protection system, shock protection, error detection and repair. This feature will also find, isolate, and repair any problems that occur during the hard drive's lifetime. While Data Lifeguard is busy taking care of the data portion of the hard drive, ShockGuard is making sure that vibrations and bumps don't jar the drive.
The Lifeguard will find, surround, and fix any problems happening during the time of a hard drive's life. The job of making sure that the drive isn't jarred by bumps and vibrations is put upon the ShockGuard system.
Mobile Drives- Portable units have the option of two different hard drives that can fit internally. These mobile drives are the WD Scorpio Black and the WD Scorpio Blue. Neither of these consume much power at all and they are very cool to run. The quietness of these drives is astounding, especially when combined with the other features just mentioned. The smaller of the two, Scorpio Black, has a capacity of 320GB, an RPM of 7200, a freefall sensor, and SATA 3 Gb/s. Scorpio Blue is 2. 5 inches with 1TB capacity, SATA 3Gb/s interface.
This fall sensor found in the Scorpio Black ensures parking of the head in the event of a fall. Disk damage is prevented by this head parking mechanism. Both the Scorpio Black and the Scorpio Blue have SecurePark as well. This feature saves the disk from extra wear by parking the head off to the side of the disk when the drive isn't being used. The parking will also occur during the start up of the disk and the stopping.
Western Digital internal hard drives also includes various other 2. 5 & 3. 5 SATA hard drives, SAS hard drives, and two different AV internal hard drives. Video surveillance and PVR/DVR requires technology that has video and audio environments that are very demanding.
