Does it make financial sense for you to drive an electric powered car? Absolutely! Electric autos are terrific for commuters and anyone that drives under one hundred miles in a day. And do you know what, most people drive very much less than a hundred miles every day. Think about going for several weeks, even months or maybe forever without needing to stop for gas. It is not merely possible, it's now realistic.
Most folks do not drive electric automobiles as a consequence of the idea that switching a car to electricity costs many thousands of dollars and to buy an electric new automobile is seriously expensive. In reality you'll find, it does not cost much at all to convert an current car to run on electrical power. And rather than converting your present automobile to electric, how about buying an older auto, maybe one with a bad engine, out of the classified ads and converting it?
Think about it, grab an affordable vehicle from a junk yard or classified ad and change it to all-electric for just a few hundred dollars more. It is a lot easier than you suppose and you will have a vehicle that:
1) Looks great. There are actually a lot of non-running but great looking cars to select from.
2) Your electric automobile will readily cruise at 50 MPH. That's plenty fast for driving to work, going to the supermarket, picking up the children, and so forth.
3) Your auto will go as much as 100 miles on a charge. Keep your old car or rent one for lengthy trips.
4) Save tons of cash. If you are spending $50 weekly on gas, comes to $2600 every single year. That's much more than your electric car will cost!
I'd be willing to bet the true reason you don't build your own electric car is a lack of knowledge. You just do not know to date how easy it really is. What you need now is step-by-step, easy-to-use manual to construct an electric vehicle in your workshop or garage.
