Some of the high school games he played in were televised on ESPN2 and he was also featured on various national magazines at that time.
Instead of going to college after completing high school he entered the NBA draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers had the first pick overall for the draft and used it to draft him. His first year was one of the best rookie years in history. During that year he put up 20.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game on average. There have been only three players in NBA history to average more than 20 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game during their first year.
In 2003 he signed an endorsement deal with Nike to wear their shoes. Because of this Nike started developing various signature products with his help in designing them. There have been numerous different shoe series already with his name attached to them. There have been low tops, high tops, and Air Force 1 branded shoes.
His nickname is represented as king of the jungle, it is King James. The latest shoes in his line have a King James logo that was just developed. The line has this logo on the product in different areas so that it stands out quite a bit.
With his recent change to the Miami Heat from the Cleveland Cavaliers he has stumbled on new found criticism. As in true LeBron James fashion he embraced that criticism and elevated his game to new levels once again. With that he is also pushing towards more branding of his Nike line and continuing to put out new cutting edge products with them.
