It’s true that when you get married, more people will be focusing on the bride than they’ll look at you. But it’s still important to make sure you look great especially since your love’s eyes will be focused on you more than anyone else. To look the best you can, you need to put careful attention and though into choosing wedding tuxes for you and your groomsmen that matches and flatters all the guys.

Not all wedding tuxes are made for every body type, so make sure you dress right for your unique body shape. Your goal is to look debonair and maybe even dashing. You don’t want to look like a kid dressed up in his father’s formal cloths. Jacket styles are typically double breasted or single breasted. Double breasted jackets use more fabric and usually look great on larger guys. But if you’re shorter and slighter, stick with single breasted jackets. If you’re not sure, stick with single breasted jackets since they look good on practically any body type. Guys with a bit of a gut should stick to a lower buttoning jacket to provide a more longer and leaner silhouette.

Wedding tuxes should look classy, so keep it tasteful. Even if you tend to lean towards frills, stay away from this style in favor of a more tailored look. That said, you still have many choices and styles of wedding tuxes to choose from, and what works best will depend on the level of formality of your wedding, your body type and the season in which you’re getting married. If you’re not sure, a sales associate at a formalwear dealer will be able to help you with your selection. You may be surprised at the options available to you.

It’s important to make sure your formal suit fits you well. Get measured professionally by a sales associate so that you’re guaranteed to get the best fit possible. If you’re a larger guy, it’s important to get your upper arms and thighs measured as well.

Your jacket should be loose enough to provide a full range of motion without leaving you drowning in fabric. Range of motion is important both with the jacket buttoned and unbuttoned. You’re going to be doing a lot of dancing, shaking hands and hugging so you’re going to want to be comfortable.

Wedding tuxes always require that you wear a shirt and a well fitted shirt is also crucial to the entire look. Your collar should be loose enough to fit one figure inside, but no more than that. Cuffs should not ride up when you stretch. French cuff shirts break ½ inch past the wrist. Button cuff shirts should break precisely at the wrist.
Pants should break over your instep. This means the hem needs to be about 1/3 the way down your shiny patent dress shoes. Vests should hit below the waistband of your dress. Choose a full back if you suspect you’ll be removing your jacket. If it’s summertime, or if you’re getting married somewhere warm, then removing your jacket is inevitable.
