Many people get into affiliate marketing thinking that it is easy to make money online and in theory, it is.
Every internet marketing business strategy goes a little like this; Choose a product, advertise it, oh, and make a tonne of money and retire gracefully. Easy.
Now, before you laugh and hit the back button, have a think. This is the only internet marketing business strategy that you need to be successful. Pick and promote. How you go about doing it, how motivated you are and how you deal with distractions are all side issues that can both distract you and prevent you earning an income, so let's go through them.
Distractions
How many emails have you opened and spent an hour, a day a week analyzing because they were promoting some really cool product that would fast track your success? These are the bane of every internet marketing business strategy because while you are 'researching' these products you are neither choosing a product to promote, nor promoting it!
These offers can be more time consuming and dangerous than all the other distractions that you can get in a day.
Checking 'Stuff'
How much time a day do you spend checking and replying to emails, checking your Clickbank account, analyzing your analytics account? If you have more than one email, Clickbank or analytics account this can literally take hours out of your day. So streamline it. One of the best and simplest things to do here is to unsubscribe from all email lists except for those that you really enjoy reading. I used to get 150 emails a day from marketers, I now get 5. All of which I enjoy reading and get value from and that take me ten minutes at the most to process.
Only allow 30 minutes a day to answer emails - I do 15 minutes in the morning and 15 at night.
Clickbank, analytics and page rank tools are fantastic time wasters when you use them everyday. Once a week is plenty of time.
Research
Are you spending a week researching each 500 word article? Chances are that you are overthinking it. Trust yourself, you probably know far more than you give yourself credit for.
Education
I can't stress this enough. High quality, up to date and relevant training will be absolutely invaluable in your internet marketing business and applying the simple strategy.
Choosing Your Product
Choosing products that have high converting sales pages, low refund rates and a decent payout for their affiliates will do wonders for your motivation and concentration. By doing this you will see results for your efforts far faster.
Research Your Market
Write for your market. Know what they want and need. Troll through forums and find out the questions about your product that they want answered and the keywords that they are using to find your product.
Tools
Having good quality tools will help you immensely with your internet marketing business. From keyword research, social snoop, market research, ping and site ranking tools they all help you to get things done faster and to accurately analyze the work that you have done.
Keep Updated
Things change fast in this internet marketing business, so make sure that as part of your plan you are a part of groups that are relevant both to your product and to affiliate marketing in general. The best way to do this is by joining relevant active forums and membership sites.
Without an internet marketing business strategy it is entirely possible that you can spend more time running around in circles looking at ways to make money faster than spending time actually working on your business.
