This artist believes that music and art is not that far apart. He had always though music and art was normal having grown up in a house that was filled with this. As he went to school he then learned that not all the children had a knack for drawing or singing. He put aside his artistic talent in his teens, however, to concentrate on his music, and that has kept him going through most of his adult life. To earn extra money, he would join bands which were better than being at the carwash.
In the next 30 years of his life he would still be playing music. !2 years ago he wanted to give painting another shot. He loved it and is still continuing his painting. Both singing and painting is what he does these days. Only now, his subjects are a bit more in depth.
He was able to ask help from a musician friend for some oil painting lessons. While working closely with his mentor, he worked hard to perfect his realistic skills. What came from the lessons that he took were a painting that was chosen as a promotional print the year it was painted, and a portrait of a long haired, white cat.
The end result is what you have conveyed. Normally ne targets emotions and checks a certain scene to see where that is. When he makes portraits for people, he tries to make the image flattering. Essentially you want the right lighting when it comes to flattery.
Being able to have good lighting and shadow depth will make your images stand out more. He uses watercolors but his watercolors are frequently mistaken for oils. Watercolor is easy and simple to use in paintings he says.
Apart from all the other paintings he has done one of them was a mural for a couple who live in the Clover Hill section of Frederick. The mural occupies one wall in their home which is of colonial Williamsburg. The scene reminds them of the early American village which is something the couple is very passionate about. Around 10 feet wide by 4 feet tall is the measurement of the mural and it shows a fictional street.
It was essential that he drew in some images of wagons and people dressed in colonial garb and hollyhocks so that the painting has more authenticity. Normally he would work about six to 12 hours a day four days a week for the project. The remaining days of the week was devoted to rehearsals for his performances. Both physically and mentally you are drained when you paint he shares. One will need to muster a lot of concentration for this.
