One of the big trends right now is to be environmentally friendly or green. That can encompass anything from your house or car, to what you put in your mouth, to the every day products you use. With all the latest hype on environmentally friendly products, it can be a bit confusing. It can be especially confusing when it comes to your baby. I will try to make it a bit clearer for you. It has been proven that earth friendly baby products are the best for your little bundle of joy. A baby s body and brain grow extremely fast from conception until the age of three. They are also more vulnerable to environmental toxins during this time period because they absorb more pesticides per pound of body weight than adults. These toxins will stay in their systems longer than in adults and can have more of an impact.

In addition, there has been an increase in recalls of baby products found to contain lead and other contaminants and more and more studies finding toxic ingredients in baby care products. Do you want that for your baby? These findings can be pretty scary. What can you do? You can use earth friendly baby products. These are made without pesticides, fertilizers, antibiotics, growth hormones, genetically modified organisms and additives.

So, where do you start? The easiest thing to do, of course, is to buy organic food. You can purchase organic baby food in jars, or better yet, make your own from fresh, organic foods. Also, make the nursery eco friendly by getting a mattress made from organic cotton and free of pesticides and other processing chemicals. Next, stock it with earth friendly baby products. The skin of babies is very sensitive and they can easily develop rashes and skin irritations from the chemicals found in non organic baby products. Natural baby products are free from all toxins. Look into purchasing organic shampoos, lotions and bottom balms. You may even want to consider using cloth diapers, which are best for the planet and it will save you tons of money over disposables. I use them on my baby and after you get used to putting them on, it is a simple and economical alternative.

Another thing you can do is dress your baby in organic cotton baby clothes and get them some natural baby toys. Organic cotton baby clothes are made without harmful chemicals or dyes. Babies and toddlers like to use their mouths and hands to explore. With earth friendly baby products, you can be sure that your child is not ingesting any toxic chemicals. All of these products make wonderful gifts too. The mama to be or new mommy will surely appreciate them!

By using earth friendly baby products, you will not only be doing what s good for your baby, but you will be helping to save our planet. Take the time to educate yourself and others about the benefits of using organic and natural products. Just remember, it is never too late to get your child off to the right start. Start using earth friendly baby products and be kind to mother earth at the same time.
