Most of us have the usual 20 – 30 days of holiday a year plus bank holidays, this makes that time very valuable to all of us. A break from the usual 9 – 5 (or what ever shift patterns you have), a break from the office cubical and all routines.
With so little time, its easy to become obsessed with the planning processes and day dreams of your ideal holiday. I have picked a few tips which have allowed me to travel light and within budget, these may help you on your next holiday.
1.Do your home work – Research is the most vital piece of information you can find for yourself. If you don’t do this then you’re likely to miss out on loads of opportunities to save money and educate yourself on the location you’re planning to holiday too.
2.Compare Prices – Pop on-line and find some of the comparison engines, as well as look around for niche holiday dealers and travel agents. Quite often the comparison engine knows best, but if the holiday company are not listed their results will not show. Don’t buy the first deal you see, its highly recommended to spend a little time searching for that perfect deal.
3.Find Discounts – Hunt around for discount coupons and vouchers, from time to time these are released into ‘wild’ and could save you typically 10% on the price of your holiday, just for 10 minutes of your time searching.
4.Cashback – Consider signing up for some of the community cash back schemes, which offer discounts in the form of affiliate commissions. Many of the big names are signed up with these community cash back sites and provide similar amounts to discount codes, some may even be used together to provide a huge saving!
5.Buy early – The earlier you purchase your tickets, accommodation and activities the cheaper it will be. Last minute deals are not always ideal and are certainly not reliable enough to guarantee you a holiday.
6.Buy on credit card – where possible ensure that you use your credit card to purchase any tickets, accommodation and activates as there are clauses within the small print which will protect your purchases. Look at getting a hold of a credit card which also offers you some form of discount. Many will offer you 1% - 5% as introductory rates. This can provide a massive discount if managed correctly.
