According to many travellers, travelling is a natural urge which pushes us towards discovery. Not In the same way as Neil Armstrong’s discovered of the Moon or Christopher Columbus’s epic voyage of discovery. We live in a time where, we are quite certain that there is no more land remaining to be discovered and the lucky few venture to space. Confined to routine, the world probably seems quite small now.
Travelling permits us to tour long distances of various terrain, experience different cultures and lifestyles. Travelling does not always mean you have to leave your own Country; there is much to see within miles of your very own home if you’re interested?
Reading articles and books, looking at photos in the national geographic makes us want to go to that amazing place, live that experience and gain a better understanding of that text or image.
Routine quite often causes us to neglect our other aspirations, to travel, to experience, it’s all too easy to get caught up in routine. Sometimes even the annual holiday isn’t always enough time away to shake the feeling.
However spend some time planning a travelling experience for a couple of weeks when you have some time off. Travel around your own country, hunt some affordable accommodation across your route.
One of my favourite travelling experiences was a two week cycle through parts of Scotland, starting out in Edinburgh, through Glasgow and up to the majestic Grampian mountains. This wasn’t what some might class as travelling but my goals and ambitions were met. I came back feeling refreshed, a different feeling to simply laying on a beach soaking up the rays.
If you are worried about going to a foreign country, then do consider your own like I did. The benefits for doing this are obvious, no language barriers, no currency issues and similar standards. One downside to a short travel in your own Country is that you will probably pay more for it, unless you find ways of reducing your spends through perhaps downgrading accommodation or eating more affordably.
On your journeys you will meet many people, some will be travelling also, and some may be local. The best part for many travellers is the social aspect. Talk to someone in a similar situation or from a similar walk of life. This bond is in much the same way University students on the same course have similarities which forge bonds which can last a lifetime.
