Every had a baseball cap that was dirty and you threw it away because you could not figure out the secret to keeping it in shape and getting it cleaned at the same time? Every tried washing your baseball cap and it turned out either bleached, faded, out of shape, or all torn up? Well the secret is out of the bag. Now you don’t have to waste any more money because you had to toss that favorite sports cap. Now you don’t have to be embarrassed to wear your cap that doesn’t have a shape any more because it lost its shape when you took it out of the dryer.

Most clothing articles made in the USA have little tags on them that tells the consumer what the product is made of. These details give you a lot of details on what you can and can’t do to wash the baseball cap. Whether you decide to take on the adventure in washing the cap, or you choose to let someone else take on the challenge, there are some things you should know before you begin. First, keep in mind that after washing your baseball cap, it will probably not be in the same shape as you when you purchased it unless you get one of those little nifty little devices that you can place the cap in while it is being washed and dried.

The next thing that you have to remember is after washing your baseball cap, the brim of it will not be the same. On a new or even worn baseball cap, the bill is nice and stiff and you can even bend it into the shape that you want. The brim is usually made think cardboard which everyone knows cardboard and water do not mix. Yes, that nice stiff brim will probably not be as stiff as it was the day you bought it.

Sad to say, your baseball cap will also shrink. A suggestion to you would be before you wash that favorite baseball cap of yours, practice some different techniques on cheap baseball caps so that you will be aware of the results, rather those results are wanted or unwanted. Look at what the baseball cap is made of. Most caps are made of regular cotton which is known to be very strong and won’t shrink as much. Baseball caps that are made from wool or even polyester will probably shrink the minute it hits water. The mesh is more sturdy and can probably withstand many washings.

The easiest way to make sure that your baseball cap does not fade or the colors wont bleed is to hand wash it in mild soap and water. Taking a tooth brush to the hard to clean spots or the sweat band on the inside will quick eliminate any stains on the hat. If you could pick up a plastic holder that are specially made to hold the shape of the hat in place while you are washing it, you could place the hat inside the holder and put it into the dishwasher using regular dish washer detergent to keep the colors in tact. Thee are just some ways to wash your baseball cap. With a little research, you could probably find more.
