Here’s a great new way to promote fuel efficiency; Goodyear Tyres is giving away free fuel in order to educate the motorist about the fuel saving benefits that can be achieved by fitting their vehicles with EfficientGrip tyres from Goodyear Tyres. The campaign, which will be going nationwide over the next few months, was started in November 2010 at a popular and busy filling station in Gateshead. According to Goodyear Tyres, the idea is to show that fitting their EfficientGrip tyres is like having free fuel.
During the period of the promotion, Goodyear Tyres will be partnering with five petrol stations across England in order to get over their message to as many motorists as possible. It’s an interesting idea because the manufacturers believe that motorists will come to understand that fitting fuel efficient tyres really does save them money; just like having free fuel to use for a while. On top of this, by using less fuel motorists will also be helping to save the environment; a central part of Goodyear Tyres philosophy.
During the promotion, Goodyear Tyres will be giving away the equivalent of £20 worth of unleaded or diesel fuel for a period of four hours per day or until stocks run out. It is estimated that this will enable approximately 600 motorists to benefit at each location. Goodyear Tyres is dedicated to a process of reducing both fuel consumption and carbon emissions and this promotion is part of their ongoing strategy in this respect. Indeed for Goodyear Tyres, it is a key aim of their research & development programme.
The underlying point to this story is that Goodyear Tyres has shown that on average, motorists can save the equivalent of one litre of fuel in every full tank by fitting EfficientGrip tyres. This saving, which adds up to a considerable amount over a year’s motoring, has been made possible by Goodyear Tyres new generation tread compound. This effectively reduces the amount of energy required to make each tyre roll. In turn, this requires less engine power and, as Goodyear Tyres is keen to point out, less fuel.
Another point which Goodyear Tyres believe can benefit the motorist is that quite apart from the potential savings in fuel costs, the car’s CO2 emissions are also significantly reduced. This of course can also mean further beneficial savings under the car tax rules. Moreover, EfficientGrip tyres also offer high-mileage, good wet braking performance, resistance to aquaplaning and a noticeably quiet ride as well. So watch out for the Goodyear Tyres free fuel promotion at a filling station near you.
