With its industry leading punch capacity, and its ability for the user to disengage any punching pin he or she chooses, the E Titan Coil has positioned itself as a great choice for large run print and copy shops, or document production floors in large businesses. We are going to take a closer look at the E Titan Coil and give you some of what we consider the machine s strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths:

1. What immediately stands out on the E Titan Coil is its rugged, heavy duty construction. Made almost entirely of die cast metal, you just get the feeling that this a machine that is built to last a long time. The motor is nice and powerful, and we were able to punch the machine s stated capacity of twenty five pages with relative ease.

2. The E Titan Coil also features fully disengageable dies (meaning you an deactivate some of the punching blades), an attribute which allows the user to punch and bind just about any size document, from large to small. The disengagement process is as simple as can be as well: all the user needs to do is pull the corresponding pin to stop that die from engaging. Incredibly useful and user friendly, and a great feature for businesses that regularly need to bind documents of various sizes.

3. The E Titan Coil makes it very easy to know what size of coil you will need to use to complete your project. All you need to do is put your document underneath the blue lever that is located on the left side of the machine and push it down. The guide measures the document and lets you know what size coil you will need.

4. On the right side of the machine is another blue lever, one that lets you control and adjust the depth of the punch margin. Again, this is a very handy feature for those who intend to bind documents of varying sizes.

Weaknesses:

1. Though the E Titan Coil punches like a champion, we thought the electric coil inserter could have been designed a little better, as we found it not the easiest to use. We don t know why they decided to mount the roller on top of the machine, as this means you will need to lift the booklet up in order to insert the spiral coil. Also, the roller is only about six inches long (about half the length of the machine), which means you will not get the kind of traction that you might with some other machines, and the inserting process is more painstaking. Don t get us wrong, it works fine, it is just that there are some more user friendly systems out there.

2. We thought that the foot pedal was on the small side, and not nearly as well constructed as the rest of the machine, meaning that there is a chance that it won t enjoy the longevity that the binding machine seems built for.

3. Another small complaint, as it were, is that the chip tray seems undersized. All this means is that you will have to empty it often, and is certainly not a make or break aspect of the E Titan Coil.

4. Out of all the binding machine manufacturers on the market, DFG is one of the most difficult to work with when it comes to warranty. Thankfull, most of their machines do not break. However, this is definitely something to consider when making your purchasing decision.
