There are more than enough tennis shoes on the market to choose from. The only problem is that some shoes that claim to be a tennis shoe may not necessarily be a proper shoe for tennis. A real tennis shoe will provide you with a certain level of comfort as well as the right support needed to avoid any injuries whilst playing. By choosing to wear any other trainer you do run the risk of becoming injured.

There are two key things that you need to think about whilst you are selecting the right tennis shoes for you. The first factor that you need to look at is you need to think about which type of court surface that you play most of your games on. You will need to identify this to make sure that you select the right tennis shoe for your need while playing.

Next you need to find out which shoes will be the most comfortable to you as an individual in terms of your body and feet characteristics. Of course there is no real science behind what you should wear in a tennis shoe but some people prefer different qualities in their shoe and you should buy the tennis shoes according to what will better suit your needs.

If you play most of your tennis on a hard court surface such as concrete then you should be looking to purchase tennis shoes which can withstand repeated use on these surfaces. A shoe that is durable and does not wear easily is the right choice for this environment. Repeated use on this type of court surface can wear the tread off the tennis shoes quickly which can cause problems.

When the tread on the bottom of the tennis shoes wears down on these surfaces it can cause you to slip and injure yourself. You should look for a shoe that is supported to the hand that you favour when playing tennis as they should have extra support on that side of the shoe around the big toe area. This is because you normally drag your foot while serving and playing strokes so this area of the shoe can wear down quickly as well.

The other more popular type of playing surface is the soft court which is usually clay. If you are a clay court player then you should look at getting a tennis shoe that will provide you with comfort as well as a good amount of traction so that you do not slip easily. You should never wear a standard trainer such as a running shoe on a clay court as it can damage the surface due to the small plastic spikes on the soles. Most clubs will not allow you to play on this surface in anything other than a flat soled shoe.

Finally the shoe that fits is the shoe that you should wear. Tennis shoes should fit you across the width of the shoe but do allow for some slight movement as the shots that you play in tennis do require some movement of the foot from side to side. The shoes that fit like this will give you the right amount of support around the ankle and a good degree of comfort whilst you are moving and taking shots.

Once you have decided which type of courts you play on the most and think you know what you want make sure that you try them on. It is no good buying a shoe that does not feel right to you. It can simply come down to what feels right to you. Once you have purchased your tennis shoes head over to the courts and try them out and have a good time doing so.
