One day all of those other things will all fail you. They only thing you may have at your disposal is your knowledge and attitude.

Do not become one of the untold numbers who become casualties or victims to their own ignorance and or stupidity or carelessness. It will not always be the other guy that get lost or stranded without anyone knowing where to look for them.

I personally have been broken down and stranded in various ways and means over my life time. I have always come out on top and some times it was no fault of my own that I did. However, in each and every incident I did have the tools bring me back out of it. Except one. I was lucky that night.

Prepare for the unthinkable and hope you never have to see it happen. Better to be prepared than sorry afterwords. You never know when the unthinkable may be your bedmate for a few hours or even days or weeks.

The following is a list of things, A Partial List, of things you should consider putting into an emergency kit for your automobile.

Put all the things you may need to carry with you in a seal-able container that does not leak.

* 3 Days of Water
* 3 Days of Food - Snacks etc MRE's are great for this, if you have water
* Makings for a Rocket Stove and something to cook or boil water in
* Wool Blankets
* Waterproof matches or some kind of sparking device that will work in any weather
* Sharp Knife
* Nylon Cord
* Hand Crank Flashlight or a combination flashlight/radio
* Hand Crank Radio
* 100 Hr Candles
* Road Flares and/or Light Sticks
* Extra Car Fuses
* Tire Chains if you travel in snow country
* Small Shovel
* Hand Tools
* First Aid Kit
* Toilet Paper and Handy Wipes
* Extra Cash and Coins
* Reflective Blanket
* Waterproof Poncho
* Hand Warmers
* Cell Phone and Charger
* Know How
* Attitude

Obviously not all of these will go into the "carry container" that you may need to take with you if your need to abandon your vehicle. In an emergency you can use the foam from your car seats to protect your hands and feet from freezing. If you have candles you can put it in your vehicle to keep warm with. It will work much better if you have radiator device like a one gallon can to place over it. The rocket stove could work for this.

You may not need all of these things at any given time. You know your situation better than anyone. Plan for who you and what you do. Just prepare for the unusual as well and don't forget to take it with you.

The long and short of it is, better safe than sorry. Do not become a victim and a casualty because you could have had that little something that could tip the scales in your favor. If you do not do it for yourself, do it for your family. Do it for the baby.
