It is not generally easy to work out which brand and model is best for your particular uses. Those people with a large farm will probably have an absolute need for a tractor of some sort, but before anyone decides on one, they should work out all the needs and purposes their machine might be used for on a regular basis, and subsequently get something that is right for those specific roles. Things tractors can be used for include soil and snow plowing, transportation, harvesting, and many others. A large farm tractor specifically designed for heavy work on an industrial scale will last for decades and do everything you want it to.

Which brands and models are the ones to consider? Thats not an easy question to answer, and is somewhat personal.

The newest models from John Deere are world leaders in power and force and capabilities for any farmer. Another eminent brand is New Holland tractors, they are also highly popular and well thought of, and have been in existence in one form or another for a long time and have gained almost unrivalled experience in the industry. As well as tractors they build combines for the faming community, another popular agricultural machine. In recent developments they have even led the development of environmentally friendly machines.
In additon you can look at getting a compact tractor, one which is capable of all the commonplace tasks like cutting, loading, hauling, mowing and much more. But they are not quite as large or expensive as the larger farm tractors, but can do similar tasks very well. They tend to be diesel powered and equiped with hydraulics so they can perform even heavy tasks, lifting, digging etc, and helping to move heavy objects. A compact tractor may not last quite as long as a large farm tractor but for many it will be the best choice, and more affordable.
