If you are interested in making your backyard look just a little bit nicer, you need to think about river rock landscaping. Most people underestimate these little stones, but they can make you look like you are a professional. So if you have always been wondering how to landscape, you will really appreciate what they can do for you. Of course, the best part is the fact that they are very cheap to buy, so you can put them all over your yard if you really want to.

One of the main reasons that people avoid making use of lights in their yard is because they are worried that it will be difficult and expensive to install all the wiring and then it will drive up their electric bill. And while it is true that wiring can be a challenge, especially if you are not someone that has experience working with electricity, you would be surprised at how little the lighting will affect your power bill. Today's options for lighting are far more energy efficient than they were in the past. Not only are they designed to be able to run without using as much power, they are also designed to last longer. In other words, you won't have to constantly be changing bulbs.

Most wooden retaining walls are designed of fir timbers in 6 x 8 x 8 cuts. Each cut is only about $20, and they are very easy to nail together. This is a popular choice because they are large and sturdy, though not too large that they will make it difficult to have plants or grass on the top. You will probably be able to move them into place with the help of one or two other people. This alone will save you quite a bit of money, as you won't have to pay people to unload hundreds of stones.

So if your goal is to find great cheap retaining wall ideas, you should go with a wooden one. They look amazing in just about any backyard, and you will be ahead of the curve. If you have more wiggle room with your budget then stones might be a good way to go, but consider the cost of adding in extra dirt. Of course, if you already have the height that you need so that won't be a problem. Ultimately though, by building one and adding depth to your backyard, you will be increasing the value of your property.
