Do you have a problem controlling how much you eat? Do you ever eat "in secret" and hide wrappers and other food parcels when eating without other people seeing you? Overeating is considered by many as an illness and like any other addiction, food can become an emotional crutch that you lean on. Unfortunately this crutch never lasts and when the buzz fades you need more - and more and more. For many overeating leads to severe weight problems and unless you take control early it can explode into a serious issue.
Overeating is basically when you eat more than you "need to" on a consistent basis. Its when you do not have control over your eating habits and where food starts to rule your life. Taking back control can be a very empowering step. Here are 3 very simple tips to help you.
1. Plate Size
In a recent study it was found that by simply giving people smaller plates they eat less. Since most of us are taught to finish out food and to eat everything on our plates, bigger plates usually result in more food. By simply getting smaller plates you will automatically eat less. As simple as this may sound, it really works. By gradually reducing the size of your plates you can gradually reduce the size of your meals and the amount of food you consume.
2. Good Food
A very common problem for people who overeat is the fact that they eat rubbish food and because junk food has very little nutritional value they are constantly feeling hungry - even after a big meal. When you start focusing on eating healthy food you won't have that constant hunger to deal with. When you fill up on good stuff there will be less room for bad stuff. Simple as that.
3. Hydrate
How much water do you drink every day? Most people drink far too little and on top of that they drink coffee and sugary drinks that actually dehydrates them. Drinking a lot of water will deal with a lot of those feelings of hunger you get. The same part of the brain that triggers hunger also triggers thirst and by simply drinking water you can start to slow down that need to eat all the time.
Overeating is all about breaking bad habits. Often times these are small habits that crept into your life and before you know it, it becomes something you depend on. These 3 tips really do work but you have to work them and put them to practice in your life starting today.
