Acquiring some driveway paving knowledge will go a long way with your landscaping efforts for your home. Taking the time to learn some paving tips will give you a better chance of creating the effect you want from your driveway. It can also help you in the area of pricing, which is usually one of the most important for most people.

One of the first factors in determining your cost is going to be the measurements of your driveway. Size relates directly to how much cement, or how much asphalt you are going to need to complete the job. You need to know if you're going to use color in the finish and whether or not you intend to seal it.

If you're looking at paving with concrete, then you can expect to pay between three and five dollars per square foot. And this if for a standard broom finish. If you plan on taking advantage of color, then add fifty cents to a dollar to that price. And should you go with a sealer, then hike it up again in about the same amount as for color. If you should decide to use what they call a 'stamped pattern', then you're going to be reaching the six to nine dollar level per square foot.

There are other options like asphalt to consider, and it seems to be the most popular of the paving materials. It can run you between the $3 to $6 per square foot range. Another option, which is the most expensive, is the brick pavers. These can take you from your $6 range all the way to as high as $20 a square foot.

Driveway paving can be one of the most eye-catching improvements to a home landscape. When it's done correctly, it can be a pickup that goes beyond what you even expected. A lot of people when they pave their driveways though, make the mistake of allowing way too much space, or way too little space for their driveway. This can throw the whole front of your landscape theme out of kilter. Your driveway size needs to be in proportion to everything else in order for it to accent it properly.

Another of the big mistakes made by unsuspecting homeowners, is to not get the sealing done properly. This mistake happens the most with asphalt paving. You can put the sealer on too soon or too late and really take away from the strength of it's protection. This will cause problems down the road that you really don't need.

Driveway paving for those who are on a budget can come in the form of plastic lining. For one, it's very easy to install, and for two it's quite inexpensive. You can also opt for purchasing some large stone from your local garden supply center for lining your driveway. These are just a couple of ways to keep the cost down and still have a nice looking driveway.

Gaining some driveway paving knowledge can benefit you in a lot of ways before undertaking the task of fixing your driveway. Many varieties of driveway pavers are out there, and you're only limitation is your imagination as far as designing something unique for your driveway. Many people love the beauty of the brick, with each row being staggered about a half brick off from the row before it. It makes a great effect, and it's durable to boot. So have fun, be creative, and make yourself a great addition to your home landscaping efforts.
