Most people are aware of digitally printed wallpaper - but most do not quite grasp just how wide the possibilities & applications are, and therefore miss out on the opportunity to create wonderful features out of otherwise plain, featureless walls.
We recently received some photographs from a client of their wall after hanging the bespoke wallpaper we printed for them, and we thought this would make a great example to help our visitors & customers to expand their imaginations & see just what an effect this comparatively inexpensive personalised product can have on your home or office.
From featureless, problem wall - to striking feature & talking point, with great use value & practicality.
Our client had a plain wall in a hallway area of the property. The problem with this wall, as with many wall spaces in homes & offices, is that the dimensions of the wall meant that off-the-shelf wallpapers, murals & other wall decoration options do not fit as standard, and applying such products would be fiddly & problematic.
Also, the customer is creatively minded and was able to go through the potential uses in her head for this wall, and realizing that bespoke digitally printed wallpaper would be the route to bypass the issue of the non standard wall size, she then pondered various different options in terms of images to use to make a feature of this space, in a way which is relevant to her and the rest of the family.
After contemplating various photographs with meaning to herself and her family, panoramic photo's taken on holiday, collages of babies, children, family members & memorable occasions, she came to realise that the one thing she and other members of the household do before leaving the house, is to look for the underground tube map and figure out their route to wherever they're planning to go that day.
So what a fantastic idea - instead of looking for the tube map to thumb through while getting ready to leave, they can simply peruse the tube map on the wall on the way to the door!
Our customer has been very pleased with the results of her idea, and has reported that as well as it being an incredibly useful feature - it's also become a real talking point for any guests, and looking at the images above it's not hard to see why.
Would you benefit from the same idea in your home?
We're not suggesting that the exact same scenario would work for you, for instance you may be reading this in Aberdeen, Cornwall, Manchester, Leicester, Dublin or anywhere else - or you may not use public transport - what we are suggesting however is that everyone can find a similarly useful & enjoyable application for bespoke digitally printed wallpaper, to turn otherwise boring, plain & sometimes difficult spaces, into useful & attractive features.
Some more ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
Do you have an office, or home office / study, no windows - or with a view which made you wish there were no windows? Why not have a digitally printed wall mural created of a window frame looking out onto the view you would have from your office if money was no object?
If you love the beach, you could have a wallpaper mural of a window overlooking a fantastic sunny beach.
If you fantasise about having an office in a high rise office building in London, you could have digital wall paper printed which gives the effect of looking out across central London, the same is of course true of any city or location.
If you often work late, you could even create a second digitally printed wallpaper mural of a view through the window at night, and have this on a different wall or the same wall next to the day time image, and simply put up a blind above each so that you can decide when to close the day time blind & open the night time one.
Maybe you have a room in your house which would look far better with patio doors overlooking serene views of well stocked gardens or coastal views - but you're not quite ready to shell out for the real thing.
Perhaps you're wondering what to do with a bedroom wall? Fed up of waking up to magnolia? How about waking up to a beautiful beach scene?
Maybe you have a footy mad kid (or grown up kid) in the house who would love to wake up with a view of their teams stadium?
Are you a facebookaholic? Why not turn your facebook wall into a wallpaper mural?
Do you love tropical fish? Why not have a coral reef wall?
Do you love watching the stars? You could have a room ceiling filled with stars, without the expense & discomfort of smashing a hole through your roof..
Do you have a son or daughter studying chemistry, struggling with the periodic table? They may find it easier to remember with a periodic table wall mural.
Another kind of table which younger children need to learn - times tables. How about a wall full of the times tables for primary school children?
These are all simply examples and suggestions, but if you have a wall that you can't decide what to do with, then it would be well worth your while sitting down & brain storming some idea's which may transform a previously boring plain wall into an useful, attractive & interesting feature.
