What if printing discounts such as that of printplace coupons are not enough anymore to provide you with big savings when it comes to printing your marketing materials such as that of your flyers, posters, stickers, and even newsletters? What alternatives can you think of to help you save on your printing costs?

One option is to print your flyers, newsletters, posters, postcards and even business cards on your own. The next issue now is how can you save on your ink cartridges? Because you know that printing using your personal printer can be a bit costly. You might even find yourself thinking that it would have been better to have a reputable printing company print your marketing tools especially when you've used up so much ink cartridges for your printing needs.

But take heart. There are better ways and means to save on your purchase of ink cartridges. You can actually save on your printing costs and still have the print quality results you expect from your personal printer.

Remanufactured Ink Cartridges
One of way of doing this is to consider purchasing remanufacture cartridges, in addition to compatible ink cartridges.

As the name implies, remanufacture ink cartridges are made from used empty items. Not only are they refilled with new ink; but these cartridges are actually taken apart and then repaired if there's need for repair or replacement of components, and only then are they filled up.

Similar to compatible ink cartridges, remanufactured ones maintain their high quality standards because during the remanufacturing process, the replaced parts are the same as that of the original manufacturing; hence, they pass the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer's) specifications. The process of remanufacturing, recycling and reprocessing is such that the variety of the process ensures that the remanufactured ink cartridge gets the quality you expect from an ink cartridge for your printer. And to finally convince you of their quality and reliability, these cartridges are tested with real-time printing.

The advantage of getting remanufactured cartridges is that when recycled right, they have the capacity to meet or even exceed the quality standards of the OEM's.

Ordering
When ordering your ink cartridges, the best way to save money is to get generic ones. You see, most of the time, these are the same ink cartridges you buy just minus the brand name. Many business owners can purchase generic cartridges from major manufacturers and then package them again using a different name from that of the brand. They get large discounts from buying in bulk that they can pass on the savings to the consumers such as yourself.

But when you purchase a generic, compatible or even remanufactured ink cartridges, be sure to choose the best and correct one for your printer. You can decrease much of the hassle of getting the wrong item if you research first on what would be the best choice for your printing needs.

Storing
The life expectancy of ink cartridges vary depending on various factors. Your ink cartridges' life can be from a few months to a few years.

First factor to consider is whether your ink cartridge is sealed when you got it. Of course, if the cartridge is sealed in its original package and it was stored in a dry cool place, it can actually serve your printer for two years. But bear in mind that you still provide sufficient protection when you store your cartridges. Even a small prick of a pin can break the seal in the package and can begin drying out your ink.

Then consider the wear and tear your ink cartridge is induced with over the period of time you're using it. Again, if you do a lot of color printing then definitely you'll have an empty cartridge much faster. But you can always extend the life span of your cartridge by the process of recycling, refilling, and refurbishing.

You can reduce your printing costs even if you buy high quality ink cartridges. By considering alternatives to purchasing your ink cartridges, you significantly decrease your expenses yet still have the same quality output you expect from your personal printer.
