In case you have planned to go to the fantastic country of Chile you may be amazed by its beautiful tourist attractions, beautiful Chile hotels, tasty cuisine and friendly locals. You will find several ways to get to Chile, and here are the most popular of them.

By air

Chile has two national airlines, both private: LAN Chile (LA) and LADECO (VC) and two small air transporting companies: Nacional and Avant.

You will find regular flights between the major cities, especially throughout the weekdays. Air transport is quite important in the southern part of the country. It is important to make the reservations in advance. Trips inside of Chile are performed by two Chilean airlines: LAN and LADECO and also by aero taxis.

International and National Airports: Chile has got 5 international airports -Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Santiago and Puerto Montt. You can find also 12 national ones -Calama, Copiapo, La Serena, Viña del Mar, Chillán, Concepcion, Los Angeles, Temuco, Valdivia, Osorno, Coyhaique and Punta Arenas. The International Airport Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez is located 21 kilometers from Santiago. There is frequent bus service that operates 24 hours a day. Close to the airport are some good options for overnight in cosy hotels in Chile.

By sea

The main port is Empremar in Valparaiso. The major sea lines are: Compañia Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica (CCNI); Compañía Argentina de Navegación Dodero (CADND) from Buenos Aires; Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) from New York and Europe; Delta Line Cruisses from the United States through the canal of Panama; and Royal Netherlands Company from Rotterdam and Le Havre.

By land

Chile has got around 80.000 kilometers of highways which are in ideal conditions. The Panamerican highway enters to Chile through Arica and crosses the country from North to South from the Peruvian border to Puerto Montt.

* Bus The TEPSA buses connect Brasil with Ecuador. There is also service between Brasil and Santiago. The buses that cross the country are cheap and stable. Most of the coaches that cover long distances offer food and drink service.

* Driving- At the most distant zones it is advisable to travel with extra fuel and spare tire. The tires must be resistant. Drive on the right lane.

*Train

International Rail way connection:

Bolivia - Chile: Two trains every week connect La Paz, Bolivia with Arica although you may reach Antofagasta by bus

Argentina - Chile: You may get to San Carlos de Bariloche by train, and cross the border and proceed the trip by bus to Puerto Montt due to the fact some railway connections with neighboring countries use buses along parts of the route.

National Railway Connection:

The Chilean railway net begins in Santiago and ends in Puerto Montt, however the service is limited by the country´s geography. You'll find two daily trains connecting the two cities and have sleeping compartments, restaurants and air conditioning. The passenger´s vehicles can be transported as well.
