With rumors and fabrications flying across the internet regarding Nintendo's latest project, the 3DS, many questions are finally being answered by the gaming giant. Scheduled for release in Europe on 3/25/11 and in the United States on 3/27/11, all other release dates are still being negotiated.

The gaming system itself will be selling for approximately $249.99 in the United States, however this may vary from country to country. The games for the 3DS will be a bit more expensive then iPad and iPhone, but should sell for less than comparable 3D gaming system titles which a plus is considering any 3D gaming titles are close to the $100 mark per title. And in regards to battery power, a gamer can expect to get somewhere between 3-5 hours of battery life when the device is being used at full capacity which in anyone language, is quite impressive. Playing without the 3D effects and dimming the screen can extend playability to over 5 hours. Recharging the device should take between 3 and 4 hours which may seem long, this is for a full recharge, not a recharge where you can start gaming again. There was concern over the short length of the power cord, but Nintendo intends on fixing this before the release dates.

In light of parental control laws in varying countries, the 3DS will institute a "Region Lock", which will limit the games available depending on the origin of purchase. Systems purchased in the United States may not support the same games that a system purchased in Japan may or Australia where 18+ titles are still not accepted in the country.

In addition to being a great gaming console, the 3DS allows you to facilitate several applications at once or in other words, multitask. For example, while playing a game, you can suspend the action and answer your friend's instant messages. Further, an onboard digital notepad gives the device usefulness outside of 3D gaming.

Are you a walker? If so, you can gain "walking points" for the distances you cross. Some gaming content can be unlocked with these coins, though more details are forthcoming. And finally, when interacting with online friends, you can utilize an onboard messaging system, keeping you in touch with up to 100 friends at one time. So not only is this a gaming system, this is a full blown assault on your digital lifestyle, offering a sleeker and more impressive way to message, play and even exercise!

More details are available at Nintendo's online marketplace, including trailers, demonstrations, and teasers that will assuredly create excitement and anticipation for the 3DS's release dates.
