People have been using search engine optimization for many years. The reason it got so popular is because the Internet is growing with warp speed, which means the search engines are also advancing. The science of ranking in the search engines, or SEO, has progressed a lot over the few years. And when something grows huge, there is a lot of misinformation floating around that you should aware of. Many SEO myths that you come across look very real and scary but in reality, they're just myths. This article will cover some of these stories and prove them wrong.

One widespread fallacy is that you should submit your URL to the search engines. As the internet expands faster with each passing day, so too do the search engines evolve and adapt. The result is that if you want your site's address to show up in the search engines you no longer need to submit it manually. Search engine spiders crawl sites constantly so the speediest way to have your site indexed is to have a link back to your site from a few Web 2.0 properties or popular forums that are constantly visited by spiders. One other reason you shouldn't be registering your websites address with the search engines manually is because then the process of getting indexed and ranking can end up taking a lot longer. The fastest and most effective option to make sure your site gets indexed is to make sure you list your URL on popular, authority sites. The next SEO myth to be aware of is that each page should only focus on optimizing one keyword. Although many supposed SEO experts teach this one key phrase per page idea, it is still a falsehood. It is believed by people who adhere to this strategy that the search engines prefer pages that are very focused. The first reason why this doesn't make any real sense is that it's not easy to write a page about just one keyword phrase with a natural flow. In addition, having a page devoted to only one keyword when you could have used several is simply a poor use of space on your site. If you want to optimize your page, why focus on only one keyword when it's just as easy to insert three or four? The more keyword phrases you have on your optimized page, the better it is. If your goal is to get targeted visitors, this is the way to do it. Your traffic seldom comes from just one keyword, but usually from several, as you can verify by doing web analytics. It's completely okay to optimize for more than one phrase and is critical for your search engine success.

It's a big myth that your site will get banned if you buy outbound links from other relevant sites. Despite the fact that Google doesn't like anyone buying links or trying to influence the rank of their site in any way, they often don't know the links are paid for because otherwise they wouldn't count. They would just discount these links if they were to find out that you paid for them. There is no logic to them banning a site completely merely because it advertised a link on another virtual real estate property. However, when you purchase links you need to keep in mind that the same rules of link building are applicable. Therefore whether you are buying links or building them naturally, make sure they always come from relevant sites. If you want to avoid such potentially costly myths, make it a point to stay as informed as possible. Take the time to figure out where you can get reliable facts about these issues so you can avoid being misinformed. The better informed you are, the more successful you'll be.
