When it comes to soldering there is no harm in being fully prepared and actually have yourself a soldering kit. If you have a home bound hobby such as electronics, model building or even pyrography then soldering will be an important aspect of that hobby. You can of course go out and purchase all the separate tools and equipment you require for soldering, such as a soldering iron and flux, on their own. But to make life simpler why not just buy yourself a complete soldering kit. By doing this you will save yourself time as well as money. A good quality kit will contain everything you require so you need have any fear of beginning your soldering only to discover that you are missing an important piece of equipment.
A good quality soldering kit will contain either a solder iron or a soldering gun. The iron is more suitable to delicate jobs and has a less power range than the solder gun. But if it is power and heat you require in abundance than the soldering gun is a better option for you. Along with the main soldering tool, a decent kit will also contain solder itself, a soldering tip cleaner of some sort, a de-soldering tool and a housing for the iron to keep everything safe.
Choosing a decent soldering kit can be quite daunting as there are many versions for you to choose from. However if you stick with a brand name the chances are that you make a very good choice and will not have a problems. Weller is a renowned name in the soldering world, so choosing a kit with their products should reap rewards in quality and durability. But the most important consideration in choosing a kit is the soldering iron itself. Weller make these in abundance, but it is the type that you should concentrate on. These come in a few varieties and which one you choose is entirely up to you There are wireless soldering irons such as the butane solder iron which are ideal if you are on the move. If the soldering you will be doing is fixed or you will be sitting at a bench then the wire solder iron is perfect for you. But remember with this type of soldering iron you will always require a mains power outlet. And then you have the soldering iron that is powered by both the mains and rechargeable batteries. These are very versatile. You can use them from the mains and if you need to be on the move then the batteries will give you about 10 hours of constant use.
