To be successful with a home business you must treat it like a job and not a hobby. In order to find success you must work as if you had a boss looking over your shoulder. Find your motivation in any way you can. You must set hours of work and then stick to them just like a regular job.
One of the most productive things I do is to have a daily, weekly, and monthly to do list with me as I work. This way if I have new ideas or think of new tasks that need to be done I can write them down. I also use this for filling in spare time with little jobs. Let's say you are going to work till 5:00 and it is now 4:45. Look at your list and find a 15 minute task you can do to take up the time. This is more productive than quiting early.
Another important tip is to keep good records. It is amazing how much money you can save in taxes with your home based business. Visit with a tax person and find out what kinds of things you should be tracking.
Above all else, don't give up. The road to riches is littered with small businesses that were unsuccessful because no one would hang in there and make them work. You are gong to have ups and downs but the key is to keep moving forward. Eventually it will pay off.
The last point is to watch out for people who want to scam you. If an opportunity sounds to good to be true it is and the person just wants to rip you off. Be wary of any business that requires you to pay a training fee or buy equipment before you can start the opportunity.
Of course the road to success with a home business is to treat it like a business. You must set achievable goals and check yourself to see if you are reaching them. If you think having a business will allow you to take time off whenever you want then you don't understand what running a business is about.
