Brides and grooms, with the intention of looking special on their wedding day, only tend to over-do things; when they should try and look as natural as possible. A stiff collar shouldn't be tried by the bridegroom on the wedding day and on the very day he should get a fresh haircut. He neither has to, nor should, switch from his regular bow ties to something 'different' for the wedding day. If he intends to wear a suit that he has not worn for some time, he should check to see if it shows any strain at the shoulder line or at the waistline.
The bride too, should not try new hair dos at the last moment, nor should get any sort of hair color, which she might come to regret; at the wedding day or beyond. If she does not intend to wear a wedding gown in the portrait, she should check to learn what the bridegroom is wearing, and should dress up accordingly to complement what the bridegroom is wearing. A boutonniere looks best only if it is smaller is size as compared to the lapel's peak. If the bride wants to accessorize with a somewhat long corsage, she should go in for a shoulder covering garment, to pin it on.
The bride, for the wedding day or the portrait, should not try any new makeup either; rather she should go in for something that she is familiar with. The color palette for lipsticks and blush must be a known one and a frequently used one too. The bride should, in fact, try to keep a natural, minimum eye make-up look. Under the studio lights, the camera can make it appear much worse.
The application of the blush has to be very well articulated and must begin with highlighting of the cheek bone carried by the filling of the cheek line. The chin should be done by a very light color minimally. Her lips should be done well, and made neat with the correct lining. To finish the look, a face powder should be applied to the neck, throat and the entire face. It should however be a shade lighter than that of the blush.
Your photographer may have probably arranged for a makeup highlighting at the studio, by his assistant; just before the pictures are taken. You can also ask for suggestions from photographer and there assistants to enhance the look by different make up. The groom may also use a trick or two to get that special glow for the pictures. A smart way is to rub a cologne stick over the cheekbones and the forehead and pat dry with a tissue to get a fabulous final look for the portrait.
