Long version
There are several reasons a person would want to have access to view the activities on there property or place of peace. My reason was sparked by apartment manager notices left on my door stating that they will be entering my apartment for mandatory inspections and mandatory repairs at any day of the week from 8 to 5. You apartment dwellers know what I'm talking about... I completely understand the need for mandatory maintenance on the property. I like the fact that the inspection involve checking everyone fire alarm batteries for proper charge. Saved our ass a one time. But at the same time i have also met a crooked apartment maintenance person a long while ago and i never forgot the fact that crooked apartment maintenance workers do exist after meeting him. So this is my way of having some control over my place of peace.

Another reason could be of course... nanny view...many people are already doing it. But most only have the ability to view after they get home. Not only that, the technology back in the day used to be VHS. We used tapes to record videos and it was fairly simple. Set the camera up press record and go. But these days digital has taken over tapes so how do you do it now? All by the evil yet useful computer which can not only can email me when it sees something (I forgot to mention that feature earlier ) but it can also record only when it sees something, saving recording space. Anyway, nanny view would be another reason.
One of the most popular reasons is just for surveillance purposes for a small business or at the home, especially for those mysterious happenings that acure around the same time every day or week. Maybe the dog is grabbin a beer or sleeping on your bed every time you leave for work. And you wonder why the hell your room smells heavy like dog when you don't allow him in there. Or motion detection has sensed something in the room that no one should be in and you would like an alerted to be sent to your phone at that time.
One last but not least reason is just to have that ability available and at the ready incase you needed. Or just want to watch spiders crawl along your wall at anytime. At any rate, the ability to do this is already in most households but the knowledge is not.
This economic monitoring system setup is a lower version of more high tech security systems that cost 2 grand or more to set up. This system from 2 to 5 hundred for most depending how many rooms and if you need bluetooth connection for some areas. Outside mounting of the camera would be charged for labor and weather protective gear around the swivel camera.
