Most people, from around North America, have discovered that difference. Everyday I leave my house, I discover that the rest of North America has realized that there is indeed something different about this place.
God only knows how long the weather channel girl has been singing its praises, but for at least 30 years I've have heard first hand about how this is the place to be.
I'm talking about Florida, the Sunshine State, and more specifically South Florida. Great weather is the main reason why people escape to this peninsula, but its the everyday life that keeps people down here longer then their week long getaway allows. People have come here to escape their existence for a while, and have fallen in love with this place that they refused to return from where they came. With thousands of people flocking to the Sunshine state every day, Its hard to imagine that any other place in North America can make that claim.
Living in South Florida for as long as I have, has been a fantastic and rewarding experience every step of the way. Along with the sunshine that doesn't seem to break and the beaches that have the waves breaking against it, the nightlife turns hot when the sun goes to bed. A long line of A-listers have been known to come down to South Florida and witness for themselves that second to maybe New York and Los Angeles, South Florida is a happening spot.
From time to time, the weather does cause us some trouble, but that is few and far between. The weather does come with the territory, and although most of the time it is nice, hurricanes do sweep in from time to time and it does make for a scary situation. The risk of having to deal with hurricanes is equivalent to dealing with snowstorms in the northeast, the mudslides in the west and the threat of tornadoes in the middle of the country - its all part of dealing with mother natures wrath. That is the ying to the yang when you live in paradise.
The different influences are yet another reason why South Florida attracts so many visitors every year. South Florida invites different food, drinks and flavors to the area which adds to the excitement of being a part of the areas flair. If you are a big fan of music, you might be surprised to discover that new sounds are baptized down here which, if you find yourself on Collins Avenue in Miami or Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale you will hear those sounds coming out of the areas night clubs. Different cuisine flavors give your taste buds a trip to the tropics and the laid back island drinks complete the transition.
In South Florida you are surrounded by adventure on both land and water that goes on from the time you wake up will the time you retire for the evening. Hop on a sunset cruise and witness one of South Florida's beautiful sunsets that allow for some great Kodak moments. You tend to enjoy the outdoors a little more then most? There are more golf courses per square mile then most places in the country and that's just the beginning.
People from all walks of life visit this salty piece of land. Among other things, this is what gives South Florida its uniqueness. With so much to do, there really is no explanation needed for the reason why people visit and for some, don't leave. Escape your cabin fever existence and pay a visit to South Florida - all you need is a few pair of shorts, t-shirts, favorite pair of flip-flops and enjoy this laid back living.
