The memoirs of the Masters Golf Tournament 2011 is as rich in heritage as it comes. It is an annual 72 hole occasion held each year at the exalted Augusta National Golf Club, just outside of Augusta, GA. This exalted golf course was originally arranged by the former Bobby Jones who elected, hired and collaborated with golf course designer, Alister Mackenzie on the organization for the Augusta National Golf Club. Reportedly, Jones would knock out test shots from different spots on the tentative course to abet Mackenzie calibrate the different holes. Mackenzie was born in England in 1870 and worked with Harry Colt on courses in Great Britain before he came to the U.S. in the early 1920s. The Augusta National Golf Club is one of three golf course masterpieces , the other two being Cypress Point in California and Royal Melbourne in Australia. All three are these beautiful courses are considered amongst a small number of the world's very best golf courses. Unfortunately, Mackenzie died on January 6, 1934, the year of the first Masters Golf Tournament, never having the pleasure of seeing it.

The primary name ratified for this historical affair was the Augusta National Invitation Tournament which remained for 5 years up till it was officially changed to the "The Masters Event", which was the name originally suggested by Jones' friend and colleague, Clifford Roberts. The Masters soon advanced into one of the four major championships of golf, along with the U.S. Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship. However, the Masters Golf Tournament is revered by all who play golf as a lifework, to be the ONE to score. It is the biggest of all the four important golf championships. The Masters Golf Tournament 2011 like all former will be most known for the bestowing of the green jacket to the winner, which is considered a preeminent honor in the golfing world. The preceding year's winner would confer and place the green jacket to and on the current winner. Amateurs can obtain entry strictly by invitation only, bestowing them dreams of winning the respected affair and be contemplated one of the best in the game!

The Masters Golf Tournament is distinctive from the other tournaments, being that it is a 4 day event consisting of only 18 holes each day, as adverse to the others that habitually has 36 holes of golf played on day number 3 of the tournament. This years Masters Golf Tournament 2011 is sure to live up to the expectations of its prior years. The first "Masters" was held on March 22, 1934 which was won by Horton Smith shooting four under par. Then in 1935, Genes Sarazen scored a fantastic double eagle, a shot that was noted all over the world that coerced a playoff on his way to success by 5 strokes. Between 1940 and 1960, golf greats like Sam Snead (who won in three times), Ben Hogan(two times) and Arnold Palmer who won it two times in 1958 and 1960's on his way to conquering two more titles in the early 1960's. It was not until 1961, that a foreign born player, named Gary Player, won this notable title, before taking it twice more in 1974 and 1978. In all probability contemplated to be one of the, if not the, most exalted golfers, Jack Nicklaus, won the Masters title six times between 1963 and 1986 and to this day is the most aged player at 46 years of age to win the event in 1986. On the other end, Tiger Woods is the youngest player to win the Masters in 1997 at 21 years old and holds the record for the lowest 72-hole total, shooting a 270 for a score of 18 strokes under par, bursting the 4-day scoring report that had stood for 32 years. Woods would go on to add three more titles in 2001, 2002 and 2005.

Last year, lefty and San Diego native, Phil Micklelson won his third Masters Golf Tournament by 3 strokes over Lee Westwood. In 2009, Argentinian, Angel Cabrera wins his first Masters in a come back sudden-death playoff. Trevor Immelman won the 2008 Masters Golf Tournament over second place Tiger Woods. In 2007, Zach Johnson won the Masters Tournament at +1 over par, the highest ever recorded for a Masters winner, ending just above Woods, Rory Sabbatini and Retief Goosen, who all concluded tied for second at 3+ over par.

Historically, the Masters Golf Tournament is an annual event to be remembered. This year's Master Golf Tournament 2011 will be no different. Where ever you are, be sure to tune in to be a part of this rich and extended history.
