When most people think of men’s business shirts, they usually think of the button down variety of oxford. Most of your business people wear these. It tells customers and clients that you are a professional. Usually you will see a tie being worn with these. There are also a variety of other long sleeve shirts that are worn for business. Some sweaters will be worn as well. These usually tell people that you are in a professional type of business. Now if you really want to go casual, some companies may go with a long sleeve t shirt look. Usually these will be worn on casual Friday. Most of the time you will not see these long sleeve t shirts worn during the week.

Let us take a look at the long sleeve oxford. For men’s business shirts, this one is the most popular. They come in many colors. Some have stripes, some don’t have stripes. Most of the shirts have ties worn with them. Usually a suit coat is worn over these. If you see someone wearing one of these, these mean business. They are usually clean cut and ready to get the job done. When selecting a tie for one of these shirts, be careful of the color. Having the wrong color tie with the shirt just does not go over well. There are ties for all occasions, all seasons, sports, military and numerous other organizations. If you are not sure about what kind of tie to where at work, wear a plain tie and find out the rules regarding what kind of ties you can wear. Button down shirts can also be short sleeve. Usually these do not have ties worn with them.

Another type of men’s business shirt is the sweater. This is a little relaxed but it still means you conduct business in a professional manner. Usually long sleeve shirt will be worn underneath because of the type of material it is made out of. To some people, that type of material can cause you to itch or feel a little uncomfortable. Some of the sweaters may have company logos or school logos or logos from certain organizations. Again, check the regulations if you plan to wear a sweater with a logo.

The more casual type of men’s business shirt would be the t shirt variety. Usually this type is worn on Fridays if the company has a casual Friday policy, otherwise they are not worn. Most of the time, these shirts are usually for advertising for the company. They are usually worn to allow people to let their hair down. It does not necessarily mean they are unprofessional. They usually tell clients and customers I am ready for the weekend. Most of these shirts usually have to company name and logo on them.

There a few types of men’s business shirts out there to wear. Of course the button down variety is the most professional and most worn. Sometimes you will see people wear sweaters instead. In a few instances, long sleeve t shirts will be worn but only on Friday. Just make sure to check with company policy to see what you can wear. Button down shirts and ties are always acceptable.
