The famous superstardom curse of the American industry is at hard work again. The curse that has eaten alive many of talented but careless musician and celebrities, has possessed onetime American sweetheart Christina Aguilera. Gifted with all the fame and fortune she could have ever wanted during her teen years, Aguilera lived a high profile life just like many of her peers and rivals, couldn't handle the media attention and her life spun out of control as soon as some rare disappointments came her way.
The pop singer's bad times or bad luck reached its zenith when she was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning along with her contemporary boyfriend Matthew Rutler, and they both got to view the inside of a jail cell. Up until a year ago circumstances had looked promising again for the 30 year old singer, who seemed to be back on track after becoming a mother and making her musical comeback through her 2010 album Bionic.
Billboard magazine's associate director of charts Keith Caulfield explained that such a downturn in celebrity lives is common and cited the example of Mariah Carey whose TRL incident brought her a lot of adverse press, but she took it positively and silenced her critics through her smash hit 'We Belong together.'
Aguilera and her partner, who was driving the vehicle, were arrested after the duo was found to be extremely intoxicated. She launched off the year 2010 with the bitter confirmation that her album Bionic had miserably failed to impress her fans, selling a mere 250,000 units in the US. This led Aguilera to cancel her promo tour at the last minute, and even her musical movie 'Burlesque' struggled to make an impact at the Box-office. Her marital disaster with Jordan Bratman rounded up a quartet of unfortunate events for the Genie in a bottle-singer.
Other petty incidents such as her Super Bowl lyrics gaffe and the Grammys' on-stage trip have added fuel to speculation that her partying habits have gone out of mastery.
personal relations expert Jonathan Cheban thinks that Aguilera's problems are nowhere near as serious as Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan, but even her minor failures are picked up and exaggerated by the people for the reason that of her rude behaviour throughout her career. Cheban explained that during Aguilera's peak time, it was difficult to highlight her shortcomings as there was always the achievement part to talk about. But since the victories have dried up, the media has no selection but to report even her diminutive stumbles.
Cheban additionally pointed at Aguilera's complete ignorance to acknowledge the rising stock of contemporary pop artists such as Lady Gaga, Ke$ha and Katy Perry, as a reason of her falling out of favour in the public.
