Darts is such a great hobby because it requires little in the way of preparation and equipment. You can start playing with as little as a pack of already assembled darts and a simple dart board. You also won't have to worry about getting holes on your wall. They also don't eek much juice and are plug in and play, for the most part.
But dartboards are far from the most important aspect of the game, instead, you should really focus your cash and your mind on finding the darts themselves. Though friends that are regular players may have their own set, an extra set for when they visit is good to have. Find darts made of durable materials with stable flights and comfortable grips. You won't need anything beyond brass darts if you're just starting off or not regularly hosting events at which friends will play with you. They retail for between $15-$20, look nice, and are pretty durable. If you're planning on becoming a regular player, you may want to invest in Tungsten darts to get the most out of your practices.
Darts is not a complicated game, and this is reflected in the simplicity of its materials. Be on the lookout for affordable dartboards and darts when you can, and you'll have your dream setup in no time.
