The Christmas season is upon us and more often than not, this is the season when we gain a few pounds and kind of forget about watching our weight or if we do, we watch our weight go higher. It's in our nature to sort of hibernate during the cold months as we have a tendency to eat more to keep warm and it somehow is the time when we do somehow by nature store our fats. Most animals do it during this season though we are not hunter-gathers anymore; there is still that biological link that subconsciously tells us to eat more for the winter time. But unlike all other animals, we have free will and with a little bit of discipline let's burn the fat and feed the muscle this season. Review this and try to remember it during the holidays for it will minimize your unnecessary weight gain.
- Try to eat lots of vegetables, boiled if possible. Eating more vegetables during the holidays is helpful to boost your energy. Furthermore, your body is forced to use its stored fats when there are no portions of meat being feed to the body. Carrots, celeries, and broccoli are great energy builders.
- Indoor exercises like stretching, yoga and pilates are encouraged at least twice a week. These forms of exercises do help in your circulation and get your whole range of muscles to work. If you can do some brisk walking at least once a week for an hour, you could help your heart out a lot.
- Watch the alcohol intake. For your safety on the road as well, be a bit of scrooge when taking alcohol. Though red wine is good for the circulation, don't go to the extreme by finishing up a bottle by yourself. Moderation is the key thing to remember in all.
- Christmas shopping helps. For as long as you don't take too long in the food court, Christmas shopping helps as it promotes brisk walking throughout the day. For husbands, it is also a nice thing to do with your wife, unless she does not want you there. But the movement from all the shopping and carrying gifts and presents will be good for you.
These are but a few of the things that can help you burn the fat and feed the muscle. There are other things that you can do like to still remember to go to the gym during the holiday season at least once a week or even shadow boxing in the morning to keep warm should be good. The Christmas season should be an enjoyable one and hopefully a healthy one as well
