You've been training all summer for your long rides and worked yourself up from 25 miles to 35, then 45, then 60 and ultimately, just recently, you pedaled for 70 long ones. Congratulations!Your main aim, as it is the way it is primarily cyclists, may be the century ride or 100 miles. And rightfully so, because it is a lofty achievement, sets you aside from the recreational weekend warrior and demonstrates your grit.Let's review the checklist of issues you should have learned nowadays, and convey a few things with the upcoming end.First, you've learned to carb up the previous night a good ride with spaghetti or baked potatoes or both. You've learned for being fully hydrated and get plenty of fluids yesterday. You also avoid alcohol in every forms several nights prior to ride.Second, you have your clothes presented with the weather you'll encounter, together with your energy bar preference, and drink in one of the two water bottles.Third, you've cleaned and lubed you bike, pumped in the tires, have extra tubes, tire-changing tools, tire pump, computer, heart rate monitor and sunglasses and sunscreen. Finally, the night before, do a couple of mental and physical preparation. A mental checklist of this abilities is often the good thing...reassure yourself you have trained with this and so are ready, make certain your gear is ready with the early departure to provide additional confidence, and then perform some light stretching before heading to bed. Above all mentally plan on using a great ride, without complications and luxuriate in yourself because you are ready. The morning of the event go on a hot shower if at all possible given it will warm your legs, don't eat a huge meal, consume enough to get you going and get energy bars in the jersey to meet your hunger just before getting to your first rest stop.At the first rest stop, consume a banana, a PB & J and get some energy bars to change whatever you previously eaten. When you can that first rest stop are you looking to urinate? Or, have you been drinking enough? If that you are well hydrated you will have to go with the first or second rest stop.On really long rides similar to a century, whether it is a summer ride you can sweat more, so be certain that you're replacing your sodium over the bars or drink. I employ a tablet with electrolytes to supplement them because I sweat profusely as soon as the climate is warm and that i ride hard. Now, decide to play, because cycling is fun, don't ensure it is too serious. All the best!
