Leadership and Inspiration - For the Mlm Professional.
Establishing and developing a Network of self employed business owners is a talent and art form in its own right. Leadership and Inspiration are essential items.
As a rule people will adopt one of two methods.
One, that is short term and insecure, is where the Leader (?) trys to motivate the team by way of control:
"If you don't achieve a specific level, or if you don't attend a specific function etc then I won't work with you".
Now some people will be comfortable in a team operated in this fashion, although the high quality people with healthy self-esteem, will not stay long.
The incentive of the Mlm business resides in the likelihood of sacking the boss; there is very little desire to simply change one with another.
On the whole this way of leadership may generate results in the short term, but unlikely to manufacture long term sustainable distribution organisations.
One of the issues with outside motivation is that it is temporary; there always needs to be a person setting the parameters, establishing externally driven targets and ensuring these targets are met.
This method is mainly embraced by Sales Managers in Corporate organisations; an employee has little choice other than to defer to the authority or leave, and the "Manager" can continually wield the stick in an attempt to keep the numbers high.
Oftentimes challenges arise when individuals enter the Network profession with this mindset and don't adjust it accordingly. A Network is nothing more than an association of like minded INDEPENDENT Business people, working toward a common purpose. In this arena leadership and respect has to be earned.
Be that as it may, the second approach and one more appropriate to the founding of long term , powerful, profitable organisations is via the inclusion of a training policy that engenders inspiration.
The only way to genuinely engage with someone is at the inspirational level, that is why the heart beat of the Network marketing industry is people- skills; we can only really inspire people, not motivate them.
Another of the issues with outside motivation is that it is transority, there is an outside source, and unless this source is continuously assertive and setting the parameters, then Network success is very much like disconnecting an electric fan from the power source- initially things seems fine , but gradually momentum is lost, the blades slow and in the end stop.
Still, through employing a much broader view, and assisting individuals dig down into their memories and drag up the goals, dreams and aspirations they had as children, dust them off and then instil the certainty and confidence into their psyche that they can truly acquire these inner- most desires builds an internal not external driver; a far more powerful force.
If you are to be the Leader in your Organisation, it is your duty to help new team members seek out their true motivations, what they really wish to attain, for once you grasp specifically what people want, and willing to do whatever it takes to attain it, all you need do is hold that vision out in front of them constantly.
irrespective of how big the stick, or how grave the threats, outside motivation through the medium of coercion is a short term fix ; it will also repel the high quality people who hold healthy self images, and leave the team populated with those who act out of fear.
This is not a sustainable long term practice, it is management not leadership.
Leaders lead, Managers manage process; it is actually a shame the majority of "Sales Managers" misconstrue this principle.
Oftentimes, immediately individuals take their eyes off their goal, they begin to flounder, notice the distractions in life and very soon slip out of the flow.
Though when the burn is strong, the focus clear, interwoven with deep conviction, huge distribution channels can be built.
Regrettably many join the Mlm industry, thinking it is the value of the offering which will determine their success. In truth though the product /service has to be REASONABLE, it is the quality, leadership and people skills of the Leader and their coaching which is the crucial element on the route to success.
It is one thing to put together a network, it is entirely another to maintain and build off it.
To lead a team of internally inspired, focused, hungry people is an art and it these people who will, and do, head the largest and most powerful organisations.
The WHY really is far more important than the HOW.
