This can be an absolute nightmare and having experienced this myself the place in which I was living just got messier and messier up to the stage when i had to move. This was a trip of about 80 miles but i had so much stuff with me in the van it was unreal, not knowing where I was going to put my stuff when I arrived at my destination. (I was moving from a flat Into a friends place for a while but still Insisted on taking everything with me apart from the kitchen sink)
It wasn't until I saw a cabinet of mine fall apart on the floor I realized that the value of my items had gone and they had to be thrown away.
The next challenge was then to look at the other Items and do the same to them. This took a little longer but there was plenty of support from friends. I kept everything from the flat - I believe it was a sentimental value but did not want to throw It away as I had no money to get more but one voice of a friend asked me - When did you use that last? And I could not answer the question. So the decision was to discard all Items I had not used In 6 months. This was a hard task and I really missed lot of Items, there were college books, family Items, old pictures, you may have got It by now but lot of stuff and It had to go.
So the very same day I arranged for someone to pick up the Items and take them away for ever and It was horrible for a few months thinking of all the Items and what they meant to me and now I have got nothing, which is what I thought to myself.
Today, I am so glad that I had got out of the routine and moved Into a fresher and less cluttered life.
I am more of a minimalist now with limited furniture and books but it is a lot tidier that way.
