It may perhaps surprise many people today to know that back in the 60s, Benidorm was a simple and ordinary Spanish town. The tourism levels back in the 60s in this location were particularly low. Situated on the West side of the Mediterranean, it was only a matter of time before holiday makers started to pin point this as being an outstanding region to pay a visit to.

Benidorm's initial development in popularity can be attributed to the package holiday explosion, and continues year round, due to the night-life based around the central concentration of bars and clubs. The large number of free cabaret acts that start around 2100 hours and carry on into the early hours placed Benidorm apart from other similar resorts.
No popular holiday destination is complete without top high quality beaches. The great thing is that Benidorm is certainly top quality! It includes 3 huge beaches including Playa de Levante, Playa de Poniente and Platja del Mal Pas. These beaches have needless to say assisted to enable Benidorm to get where it is today; a well-known holiday and party resort. A lot of the hotel brochures and tour operators concentrate on the fact that these are some of the very best beaches in the world!
Naturally, the moment the reputation of the Spanish town began to develop, the rest just snowballed. All through the 90s Benidorm held the International Song Festival. These days though, the likes of the Indie Music Festival manage to entice an enormous crowd, injecting the economy on an enormous scale.
Benidorm is known for being a superb place for visitors of all ages. Older couples or families can really feel the sun, sea and sand where the youngsters tend to prefer to hit the town for a fantastic evening out!
