Affiliate marketing has the potential to change people s lives, but some advertising in this area of work is getting the business a bad name. I decided to write this article to explain the business in an honest and true manner, and have named it the big bang affiliate theory for a good reason. I will come to that a bit later in this article.
Firstly I want to explain why I feel affiliate marketing is getting such a bad name. I m not going to mention any particular persons, but there are a few names that spring to mind when I think about the misleading content in a number of articles or products promoting this subject.
Let s start by taking the main audience that these types of promotions are aimed at and call them the newbie s, or people that have little or no knowledge of affiliate marketing. When these types of people come across an advertisement promising them huge sums of money for very little work, almost overnight, I get a pain in my stomach and just hope they are not taken in by these promises. Some would call these promotions a good selling strategy, but I would call them day light robbery.
I don t know any affiliate program that falls into your lap with little or no work and makes you a fortune over a short period of time. I know that to be successful at affiliate marketing you need to know what you are doing and you need support, dedication and hard work, or at least hard work to start with.
Let me explain my big bang affiliate marketing theory, so we are clear on what to expect if you are thinking of getting into this area of work. As you may well know, the big bang in terms of the universe relates to a single point or atom in time when time and space did not exist. At this point, the fabric of time and space had not yet come into existence. From this single point in time, the universe was born and scientific evidence and observation confirm that the universe has expanded and continues to expand to this day.
Like the big bang, when you start out as an affiliate marketer, you have nothing, just the idea to start out and make something of this industry for yourself. Once you have this idea, you need the correct components to explode your campaign, just like the incredibly dense atom that started the universe. If the components are not there then your campaign will fizzle out and create nothing. If you have the correct components in the form of knowledge, techniques and tools, then your campaigns will start small and then expand over time to make you a lot of money and give you a solid and comfortable life. Once your campaign gains some momentum, you will just keep making money even if you move onto another campaign or work on another niche. This is the benefit you get by having the correct knowledge, techniques and tools available to you at the outset.
What potential newbie s to affiliate marketing need to understand is that you can t go into this business and expect to make a lot of money from day one. It takes time, just like the building of the universe. But once you have the building blocks your success will get better year on year. The reason I have named this article the big bang affiliate marketing theory, is because they are similar in terms of the way you should be thinking.
A lot of people starting out as affiliate marketers give up at an early stage, mainly because they never had the support or tools to achieve success. Many people are fooled into thinking it s easy to make money online with some of these scam promotions promising success overnight. It can be easy to make money online, but not overnight.
I believe that you can t just wake up one morning and decide you want to be a doctor or an engineer. To be either of these you need training and education. If you did want to be a doctor, you would need to go to university for a number of years to learn what you need to be successful. This is the same with affiliate marketing. You need to have an education with support and tools to make you successful.
