3 dimensional printing is a process which is basically the part of rapid prototyping. If it is used with FDM, it is the most economical rapid prototyping method. In 3 Dimensional printing, a 3D object is made out of several layers of objects. Dimension 3D printers are fantastic to use in many ways to carry out 3 dimensional printing. They are considered more economical, they are fast in speed and performance and it is easier to use them as compared to any other machine.

Dimension 3d printers work in a series of steps to create the final model. First off, 3D computer files are taken and then they are used to generate a series of cross-sectional parts. Now all these parts are placed in layers to make a 3D object. There exist many processes to accomplish the task of 3d printing but usually the difference is between the ways in which layers are built to create slices. In some processes, materials are melted down to create layers while in other processes; thin layers are cut to shape and joined together.

Print technology is really progressing every coming day. There are many rising technologies which are being used for the purpose of 3 dimensional printing. The most common technology in this regard is Fused deposition Modeling. It is the most conventional rapid prototyping. Similarly, Selective fusing of print media in granular bed is another technology. Inkjet 3d printing is another method in which model of one layer is built at one time and then the same process is repeated until every layer is printed.

3D printers generate smooth surface resolutions. Resolution of 3D printing is measured by means of thickness of layers. Usually the width of layer is around 100 micrometers while X-Y resolution is comparable to that of laser printers. The 3D dots are around 50 to 100 micrometers (0.05-0.1 mm) in diameter.

While considering 3d printing, some factors must be kept in mind: the processing time of printing and the layers building time. If 3D printers are compared with these 2D printers, 3D printers are fastest in speed and have better performance.

3D printing technology is usually considered as the micro technology. Dimension 3D printers are usually for the industrial use but many efforts have been done by the experts to generate a printer for home. The successful result of this effort is still not available in market but work is under progress by a project named as Reprap.
