There is the capacity, this is really the most important part of the hard drive, it is how much information that the hard drive can store. Then there is access or seek time, this is the amount of time it will take in milliseconds it will take for the drive to find files stored inside it, the smaller the number the faster and more expensive the drive will be. Then you have the DTR, also known as data transfer rate, This is almost like seek time except it measures how long it takes for files to be transferred instead of found, this is actually measured in revolutions per minute, also known as RPMs, the higher this number is the faster the files transfer. Then there is cache, which is where your dives stores recently accessed information so that it's quick for it to find again. Finally there are Portable devices, or external hard drives, which are nice and easy to install, but cost a bit extra due to the fact that they have casing around the hard drive to protect it, and a usb cable.
