When it comes time for you to sell your real estate property you must first ensure that it is presentable to your prospective buyers. The look of a home and property on the outside will draw an instant judgment from a prospective buyer. If a home is ugly on the outside its' potential fore sale-ability is probably not going to survive long. Be certain your home has at least some curb appeal and doesn't turn people away because of a few blemishes.

The judgment of course doesn't stop at the foyer. The interior of your home carries as much burden with a purchase as the exterior and if you don't prep the inside of your real estate properly you could be sabotaging yourself. If you're not certain what to do to prepare your home for sale there are a few different things you can do - with the most obvious being a consult with a real estate agent; they can typically give you tips on how to prep your home for sale.

A nice method you can try is to just simply place yourself in the shoes of the buyer. Grab a pad and pen and start marking off your own "notches" for every little scrape stain and problem you find. If you can suspend thinking of it as your home and look at it as a house for sale you may find a lot more than you expect.

Reset the Real Estate

You've likely make your home comfortable and "yours" while living there. This means people go for personalized colors, faux finishes, custom hardware and drapes, etc. The things you've done to your home that are luxuries in order to make them more comfortable may not appeal to buyers. Reset your home to something more basic - paint over faux finishes, put fresh coats of white and turn the home into a blank canvas

De-personalize your Real Estate

If you haven't moved out of the real estate you are trying to sell when you are giving tours you may find that your possessions are actually turning people away. With different tastes and styles people will try to mentally fit themselves into the rooms and all the various corners of the house. If you have it choked up with distracting colorful prints, too many ferns or other eye catching knick knacks and bricca brack you could be doing yourself a disservice. If it isn't necessary take it down and put it away.

You do want to make a home look customizable but you don't want it to be cold and sterile either. Make sure it is also as warm and inviting as you can make it without too many distractions and overly large furnishings. One thing you can do is using a very gentle pie scented air freshener. Also distractions such as excessive furniture, personal items and custom paint or wall finishes can turn away buyers extremely fast. If you're overwhelmed by the items in your home and can't seem to make a focused checklist then talk to a real estate agent. Agents can give you some good advice on where to begin and what to do.
