You've likely make your home comfortable and "yours" while living there. De-personalize your Real Estate
If you haven't moved out of the real estate you are trying to sell when you are giving tours you may find that your possessions are actually turning people away. With different tastes and styles people will try to mentally fit themselves into the rooms and all the various corners of the house. If you have it choked up with distracting colorful prints, too many ferns or other eye catching knick knacks and bricca brack you could be doing yourself a disservice. If it isn't necessary take it down and put it away.
You do want to make a home look customizable but you don't want it to be cold and sterile either. Make sure it is also as warm and inviting as you can make it without too many distractions and overly large furnishings. One thing you can do is using a very gentle pie scented air freshener. Also distractions such as excessive furniture, personal items and custom paint or wall finishes can turn away buyers extremely fast.
