When the stairs sit in the entry, many who believe in Feng shui believe that the energy flows immediately upstairs which can leave the bottom level of a home uninspiring, void of energy and uninviting. At the very least, stairs in front of a doorway are a jarring and unattractive physical feature.

A home should open up to a certain degree when you walk in. The entry area from the door way should make a home feel inviting. That aside, narrow hallways are a a major hindrance for moving large pieces of furniture.

This can be a terrible place to try moving your furnishings through and can result in damage to the walls as well as your belongings. In some cases you simply can't bring in some furniture or appliances at all.
Often a homeowner can sense something's wrong with a bad floor plan on an instinctive level, A feeling where there's just something that's not right.
