Tired of getting the same reactions again and again? Tired of the same comments and the same explanations you do every time you are confronted with the problem. Worry no more. Several methods are available to stop your underarm sweating.
Prior to suggesting anything to help improve your condition, I would like to help you understand the nature of your problem.
Sweating is a normal – as a mechanism undertaken by the body in order to regulate its temperature through dissipation of body heat. This is why it is supposed to occur only in the presence of any imbalance – in temperature, in emotional status, or in overall health. Excessive sweating occurs even at normal conditions; it is the abnormal sweating of the body due to either of two mechanisms: primary hyperhidrosis or secondary hyperhidrosis.
Primary hyperhidrosis is the sweating caused by malfunctioning and thus overactivity of the sweat glands. Underlying factors may be intake of stimulants such as caffeine, or emotional aspects, such as anxiety. Secondary hyperhidrosis on the other hand involves an underlying medical ailment which may be life threatening, to include diabetes and hyperthyroidism, as well as cardiovascular disorders.
Excessive sweating is a grave struggle for its sufferers, a seemingly eternal cycle of cause and effect, resulting to embarrassment, low self esteem, depression, and frustration just the things we would do much to avoid becoming victims to. Sorry to say, sweating is not easy to conceal. Although underarm sweating is often concealed by keeping the arms tightly to the trunk, one could not do that for an entire day!
So since health should be the number one priority, please visit a doctor if you find that your excessive sweating is out of control. This is to rule out any possibility of having an underlying medical condition that calls for urgent attention. A doctor can give you prescription medications that are suitable for your condition, given your medical history. If it is due to an underlying medical condition, then the main priority is to alleviate it to stop your sweating.
The basic rules in managing underarm sweat aim at eliminating the cause of bad odor. Good hygiene is very necessary for this part. Do not reuse old clothing. Bath well using soap and water, regularly, daily.
Aside from that wear clothes that loose. White clothes are preferred to colored ones, and cotton fabrics are preferred to polyesters. This will make you feel comfortable and allow air to circulate well and go through the fabric, cooling your body down.
Eat well. Eat the right foods. Adding fruits and vegetables in your usual diet will definitely not hurt. These are rich in antioxidants and will help you produce less concentrated sweat, and therefore less odorous sweat.
Since sweating is a response to overheating in the body and is simply expulsion of water in order to cool off, getting yourself cooled quickly will help you stop sweating rapidly. Therefore, keep the overall temperature of your home cool. Drink fluids and rehydrate often. Avoid hot beverages, go for the cold ones. Exercise also curbs excess heat.
