When upgrading your computer there are some things you should keep in mind to make sure the entire process runs through as smoothly as possible. Before you do anything, you want to make sure you set a restore point on your computer, and back up your files if you can want to be extra safe. You can do this using blank disks, usb drives or external hard drives. Taking these precautions will help ensure you make matters better and not worse.
You also want to make sure that you upgrade just one computer part at a time; no matter how advanced you are with computers I would definitely recommend this precaution. Even if all of the parts that you got are simple to install (as simple as just plugging them in) you still want to make sure everything is running smoothly after you install each part, because you can never really be too sure about what could go wrong. If you were to install all of the parts at once and you got an error, it would take a ridiculous amount of trial and error to find out which part was doing it and why.
Most importantly watch out for static electricity. Static electricity can ruin a brand new computer part, that's why some computer parts come in a protective package that absorbs the static electricity before it gets to the part. You definitely want to make sure you ground yourself on something metal, especially if you live in an environment where static often sneaks up on you and charges you up without you even noticing, like areas with fluffy carpets, fluffy cats, or a lot of plastic bags. If you are especially nervous about static charge, a lot of computer stores sell wrist-grounding straps.
