A lot of professional singers have major problems of singing in tune, though it seems unbelievable but it’s true. Most of the time, the reason behind this major problem is due to not correct habits when practicing or performing on stage as well as bad vocal techniques.

What leads to the difficulty of tackling the pitch or hitting the note right is the broad range of the environment where a singer performs and it is one of the things that should be dealt with. An example of this is when perchance, you are in front of a band that is playing loudly or you are in a very big stage wherein the monitoring is not enough.

As this happens, you will not be aware that you are getting lost on your notes and you cannot hear your voice clearly. Most beginners, oftentimes, are having the bad experience of singing with a music band for the first time when their voices are not heard clearly. Tne loud sound of the music band blows away the sound of their voices and this can be a frustrating experience.

To avoid those mistakes, i suggest that you read the following tips that can help you. You have to be able to listen to the notes in your mind before singing, which is a very important part of singing. Always remember that you have to think about the notes before singing to stay in tune.

Another tip is to play a backing track and practice the whole song in your mind. You can make use of a guitar or piano or any musical instrument for your background. Go over the phases of the song that you really find hard to get the pitch and try to think about the notes as you go along the song. Then after singing it in your head, you can now go through it aloud. Most singers glide correctly to the right pitch, what they do is open their mouth and work their way even they just hit the approximate part of the correct pitch. By doing this vocal exercise, you will soon find out that you are greatly improving your singing skills.

Request for a foldback of your voice if you happen to have a difficulty in hearing your voice on stage. This can help you but still don’t rely on it more and be cautious in overdoing it. Having too much of your voice in the foldback will make you sing out of tune in the long run. Due to this, the signal of the pitch of music is masked and you’ll find it difficult to tell if you are singing properly. Sometimes, it is advisable not to use the monitor and switch off your voice in the foldback.

If you have the chance to do this when you are practicing, it can be very handy but it is not a solution that is to be used every time you have some problems concerning your pitch. In this manner, the music band will volume it down because they’ve got a hard time hearing you and it is an advantage. You are then obliged to pitch the note ahead of singing it.
During practe, try to use a big headphone as a wall between the music and you. So that, when the band is playing very loud and you cannot hear your voice clearly, your voice will echo more in your head, giving you an idea on what to sing. Follow these steps and tips for sure you experience the refinement in your singing!
