Nowadays, as you can see, singers who sing with all their heart are always the ones topping the music industry. Their voice, the way they interpret the lyrics of a song, as well as their skill of singing with emotions, this is the charisma of the singer’s coming from, as well as putting their great sentiments into the song they sing. Singing would not be termed as singing if there is no emotion included in it. The question is, how can you sing like the singer you like, with all those feelings and sentiments?
If all you want to do is sing for yourself, then it is just fine to let all those emotions and be really drawn in it. It is sometimes the best way to make us feel good. But if you have plans of singing professionally, which means singing in front of all those people, being too drawn in the emotion or sentiment of the song is not recommended for a long span of time. Getting too drawn with the song’s emotion also has disadvantages, it can get your throat close up and this will definitely make singing a very difficult task. That is one of the problems that singers face. Several people may not realize the things that will tell or share with you now. If you notice that your favourite singer is having difficulty in singing a song, it means that he/she is not essentially feeling those sentiments or emotions.
Part of the singers’ work is to aid you in feeling the emotions within the song, to let you know that they can feel what you are feeling and what you are going through right at the very moment. Great singers are people who can convince his audience that they are going through a lot of trials and still manage to sing and do their performances day after day. For you to improve in this, i will share to you exercises that help you show your emotions when singing.
First, try to look in a song for the strongest emotions that it brings, may it be sadness, anger, happiness or pain. Listen to the song carefully so that you can tell what the singer is letting you feel by the sound of their voice and not just on the lyrics of the song. Practice the song in the mirror like you are having an imaginary friend. Let that imaginary friend feel the emotion of the song. Or instead you can shout very loud if the song tells about anger. It is important that you are aware of the tone of your own voice, if it is high or low, and how you move along to the different pitches. Do not mind what your body is doing. Concentrate on the emotion of the song. Begin to feel the emotion and then you will become aware of the emotion’s effect on your voice.
Putting emotion in any song that you will sing makes you a better singer and people will definitely enjoy your performance.
